Call members of the Florida House of Representatives Health and Human Services Committee (HHS) right now -  Call them all or just call the leaders- but make your voice heard!

Tell the person who answers the phone that you are OPPOSED to the 2 P’s of HB 1313. Pesticides in Cannabis production and calling the equipment used with lawful medical cannabis paraphernalia!

HB 1313 and HB 307 are on the agenda for the Health and Human Services Committee Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 9:00 AM. HB 1313 is supposed to fix the problems that have kept patients from getting access to low THC cannabis. HB 307 expands the right of terminally ill patients to experimental treatments including cannabis.

We expect the Health and Human Services Committee to combine these two bills. Here are just a few things we think you will see:

  • Despite hours of discussion and agreement not to allow pesticides, the five licensed dispensaries will be allowed to use pesticides on the cannabis plants.

  • The five dispensaries will be allowed to grow full spectrum cannabis – not just low THC

  • The bill specifies they can sell “paraphernalia,” rather than medical delivery devices or medical equipment.

  • The medical director must be an oncologist.

Our goal is to get safe medicine in the hands of suffering Floridians. Call the members of the Health and Human Services Committee and make sure they understand we do not need or want pesticide in our medicines!

Licensed clinical social worker Josephine Krehl who works with the terminally ill reminds us, “The term “paraphernalia” is steeped in shame and guilt, neither of which have any place in healing.”

There are no pesticides currently approved for use on cannabis by the USDA. We are seeing large quantities of pesticides showing up in the medical cannabis supply in legal states. Patients with weakened systems certainly do not need pesticides in their cannabis-based medicines.

Be heard on this issue. Remember this – love is an action word. If someone you love could you cannabis do not stay silent another day.

You can make sure we are in Tallahassee following all the twists and turns on the road to legal cannabis in Florida by making your best possible donation here.
