HB 307 was amended to include one line that allows any Florida University with a College of Agriculture to study cannabis in line with state and federal law. That bill was signed into law. The language qualifies Florida as a state with an agricultural hemp law.

HB 271 was filed on October 1, 2015 and SB 554 on October 19, 2015.
These bills would create an act relating to hemp production in Florida. Creating statutes for the regulation of hemp under the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Under the proposed Florida law, hemp producers are required to register with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and allow the Department to test and inspect their hemp crops.
It is stated in both bills:
The Legislature intends to promote economic development, and job growth through the cultivation, processing, distribution, manufacturing, and sale of hemp.
